Ayurvedic Medicine

Hello,

You might be aware that there are many causes for hiatus hernia such as decreased abdominal muscle tone and if there is increased pressure within the abdominal cavity, in obese, if there is typical continuous gastric disturbances like vomiting continuously, or with constipation which is chronic may lead to hiatal hernia and there are other serious illnesses like ascitis also may lead to hiatus hernia.

Though there are some surgeries involved depending up on the severity, however, if the severity is minimum and if there is mild to moderate gastroesophegial reflux disorder, with the help of Ayurvedic treatments and medicines one can correct such conditions, here only to minimize the pressure and reducing acidity and consuming easily digestible food and correcting lifestyle will help to control this type of problems.

You can start with the following medicines such as Chandraprabha Vati, and Sooktyn Tablet one-one tablet twice daily after food and also consider having Divya Avipathykar Churna one teaspoon with honey before breakfast and same medicine one teaspoon with warm water after dinner is indicated.

Avoid spicy foods and chew the food properly before taking it inside and always see that you are not running or sleeping soon after food as food contents may come out very easily. After having food try to sit and relax for some time and then you can do all your activities as usual.

Surgery is advised for hiatal hernia when the medicines are ineffective or in order to avoid long periods of medication. In some of them, there will not be any major symptoms and it can be managed by lifestyle modifications. If it causes GERD, then there will burning sensation or nausea which will also affect the digestion. You can take Ayurvedic medicines which will improve the digestion.

Medicines like Gandharva hastadi kvath - 15ml with 60ml of warm water before food twice daily, Sooktyn for Hyperacidity can be taken for a month and then reviewed.

Eat little quantity of food more with more frequent intervals. Try to have early supper. Limit excess oil, sugar, refined flour, spicy foods, carbonated drinks, coffee, alcohol, tomatoes, pepper and citrus fruits. If possible try to raise the head of your bed, which will be beneficial. Yogasanas like Vajrasana, Paschimottasana, Pavanamuktasana, Padmasana, Dhanurasana, Savasana can be practised.
