I am 33 yrs old and unmarried. I m suffering from irregular periods right from my menarche. I had taken many medicine ayurvedic homeo allo but no result. 2 yrs back i had all my test done like thyroid, hormonal, diabetes and everything was normal. in ultrasonography polycystic ovary was found. hormonal treatment was done. it got cured and when i was taking hormonal medication my periods were normal but as i left all the medicines after recovering PCOD again my irregularities in period started. I need your suggestion and treatment.. please help me

Hello, Polycystic ovarian disease is a gynaecological disorder where the hypothalmus and pitutary axis get disturbed leading to the altered female hormones levels. This leads to dysmennorrhoea, with disturbed cycles of menstrual flow with associated symptoms like acne, weight gain, diabetes and excessive hair growth over body. Ayurvedic medicines recommended are- 1.Pushyanuga churan-1 tablespoon thrice a day with luke warm water after meals. 2.kapikachuuchuran-1 tablespoon twice a day with luke warm water after meals 3.ashokaristha in 15ml of water twice a day after meals. 4.kanchnaar guggul-1 tablet thrice a day with luke warm water after meals 5.suvarnamalini vasant ras-1 tablet twice a day with luke warm water after meals. 6.vrushya vati-1 tablet thrice a day with luke warm water after meals. In panchkarma, uttar basti with dashmoola kwath or ashokaristha or triphala kwath is recommended for local purification. Yogic exercises like hasta padaasan,janu shirasan,paschimottanasan,balasan alongwith pranayam like kapal bhatti,anulom vilom,bhastrika and bhramri are highly recommended as they massage the female genital organs thereby increasing the blood flow to the same.

Regular periods indicates a healthy reproductive system and it is necessary to regulate the periods for a balance of the harmones. Delay periods that affects the ovulation is a common problem in PCOD. You can take the following medicines to regulate the period. Regular exercise will be beneficial to control tour weight.

Ayurvedic medicines like Saptasara Kvath - 15ml with 60ml of warm water before food twice daily, Divya Kanchanar Guggulu and Divya Rajahpravartani Vati can be taken for a month and reviewed.

Include jaggery, papaya, garlic, pepper, bottle gourd, sesame seeds and horse gram. Reduce excess meat, dairy products, broccoli, soya, sugar, salt, oil and canned foods. Yogasanas like Marjaryasana, Trikonasana, Padahastasana, Janushirasana, Matsyasana, Bhujangasana, Gomukhasana, Dhanurasana, Uthithapadasana, Utkadasna and Paschimottasana are beneficial to stimulate the uterus.
