sps, 26 October 2012 23:00

My age is 40. i had 2 surgeries for nasal polyps before (2002, 2006) but it recurs again. I had taken steroids 3 times this year to avoid surgery but polyps again recur.

Besides,|was also taking Kanchanara Guggulu, Vrddhivadhika vati and Sanjeevani vati 1 tab each morning/ night, without much results.

Now, i have started taking following medicines after as advised by doctor at baba ramdev clinic (1 month course) :

Kanchanara Guggulu 2 tabs each morning/ night Vrddhivadhika vati 2 tabs each morning/ night Sanjeevani vati 1 tab each morning/ night Laxmi vilas ras 1 tab each morning/ night

i.e. 6 tabs in morning and 6 at night plus 1/3 spoon of following mixture with honey in morning/ night (before breakfast/ dinner)

Praval Pishti 10 gm Abharak Bhasam 10gm Mukta shukti bhasam 10 gm Swarma vasant malti 2 gm Shila Sindoor 3 gm Divya Tamra Bhasm 2 gm

Kindly advise if the medicines I am taking are OK. How long should I take them ? Is it really possible to cure nasal polys with medicines ?? Is there any side-effect of above medicines ?

Besides above, i am regularly taking anti allergic medicine (allopathic).

thanks and regards

Doctor's Ayurvedic Advice:-

The upper respiratory infection causes more phlegm. The phlegm which is not cleared completely continues as a chronic problem with frequent cold and cough. As you have mentioned sinusitis and allergy, these are problems seen due to increased and vitiated kapha. So Ayurvedic medicines can be taken to reduce the phlegm which will provide relief from the symptoms.

Ayurvedic medicines like Divya Sitopaladi churnam and Vasavleh can be taken for a month and then reviewed. Sualin tablets for sore throat can be used as lozenges.

Include warm soups, pepper, tulsi, cinnamon, ginger, garlic and turmeric. Avoid excess salt, sweets, fried and cold refrigerated foods. Exercising regularly and eating healthy foods will be beneficial for a better health. Doing pranayamam will help to improve the function of the lungs and thereby will increase the resistance to infections.

Thanks Dr.Vijay for your advise

Kindly advise what, how, where is this treatment called Nasyam done.

Secondly, given my condition, I am unable to avoid daily dose of anti allergic i.e Telekast-L (Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride & Montelukast), even while consuming ayurvedic medicines i referred to.

Thirdly, pranayama is not possible with blocked nostrils (right is totally blocked, left opens up by using otrivin)

The Doctor told that there would be around 50 % improvement after 15 days but I don't feel any improvement even after consuming these ayurvedic medicines for around 10 days now.

My current condition warrants either taking steroids (which i don't want to take now) or having a surgery got done to remove these polyps.

Please advise if any-thing else needs to be done to delay/ avoid the surgery.

warm regards

Hello,

As you are suffering from nasal polyps since long time back, and you are under ayurvedic medicines which you may need to consume further. However, as you have already started consuming medicines, and I would just suggest you to consume these medicines for one month and see the difference in polyp growths. Along with, as you are consuming antihistamines which may counteract with ayurvedic medicines which you are already taking should be avoided maybe for few days or couple of days.

Along with that, you may consider to undergo the treatment called Nasyam which is done with Anu Thailam which is helpful for your condition.

You may practice regular pranayama which is also very useful for your health condition.

With regards,

Dr. Vijay.
