I was diagnosed with this condition. At present my life is very restricted, i can not stand for more than 15 minutes. After this time i start feeling sick in my stomach, feeling hot and start perspiring. I also start feeling dizzy while sitting for about 15 to30 min. I am curretnly taking .1mg clonodine per day to control my BP and 25mg of metropolol to control my high heart beat. Please advise if the ashram has some yoga aasans and pranayam practices to help this condition. thanks.

Hello and greetings from myyog.com

Vasovagal attacks or vasovagal syncope is the fainting induced by vagus nerve. There are lots of vasvagal reactions and all are mediated by vagus nerve. Apart from syncope or fainting some other symptoms can also accompany vasovagal attack like nausea, vomiting, excessive sweating, headache, light headedness, vision disturbance, discomfort in chest and heart. Generally these symptoms last few seconds before syncope. The decreased flow of blood towards brain seems to be the main reason for your problem. There are various factors which trigger the vasovagal syncope in an individual such as Standing for long time especially in locked legs position, stress, tension, use of different medications, quick change in body posture, sight of shock like accident or blood, acute pains, hunger, dehydration and urination especially in children. This vasovagal syncope generally starts in teen age and keeps on repeating for several years. You should avoid these triggering factors and practice posture exercises to strengthen your body and muscles to cope with such situations. Reconsider your hypotension medicines from your doctor. Take lots of oral fluids, fruits juices and nutritional diet. Tadasana, vrakshasana, suryanamaskarum are helpful for vasovagal syncope patient. Do pranayams daily at least half an hour in fresh air. Take Divya arogyavardhini vati and divya ashwagandha choorna regularly with milk twice a day after meals to get the best results in the treatment of vasovagal syncope. These medicines will strengthen your body, circulatory system and nervous system. Regular course will give you very good health.
